Celebrate the birthday of Lord Balrama
Balrama Jayanti is celebrated in India to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Balrama, borther of Lord Krishna.
Balrama Jayanti is also known as Baldev Chhath and Balbhadra Jayanti.
Lord Balrama was born from the womb of Rohini, wife of Vasudev. He is believed to be seventh child of Vasudev.
It is believed that Lord Balrama was born on the 6th day (Shashthi) of Bhadrapada month during Shukla Paksha.

There are two common beliefs when it comes to the birth of Lord Balrama. Some people believe that Lord Balrama is the 8th avatar of Lord Vishnu whereas some people believe Lord Balrama is the incarnation Adishesha, the devine serpent on which Lord Vishnu rests.
Lord Balrama is also recognized as Baladeva, Balabhadra and Halayudha. Lord Balrama is considered to be well accomplished in combat wrestling and mace fighting.
Every year, Balrama Jayanti is celebrated with traditional rituals in Shri Dauji Maharaj Mandir, located in Baldeo town, in Mathura district. Shri Dauji Maharaj temple performs special abhishekam and organizes special prayers. There is also a tradition of Shahnai-recital is organised in the temple.
In the temple, a mixture of curd, butter, turmeric and saffron is sprinkled over the devotees and various items like fruits, toys, clothes and money are tossed toward them as an expression of joy.
From past 162 years, the temple has been organizing Devachhath Mela which is a large mela and famous. Various events are organized in this fair like singing, Kushti Dangal.
